Precast concrete steps are manufactured under controlled conditions in a factory, where we can guarantee precise dimensions, correct concrete composition and surface quality. Unlike a staircase built directly on site using a wet process, a prefabricated step is finished, precise and ready to be installed. This saves time and labor on site, as concrete steps are simply installed, no concrete is poured or formwork is created.
Riser and riser, what they are and why their quality matters
The tread is the horizontal surface of the step that is walked on, the surface on which the body's weight falls with each step. The riser is the vertical front surface of the step that closes the space between the risers. Together, they form one step of the staircase and their dimensions are governed by the geometric rules of comfortable walking: the sum of two step heights and one riser depth should be 63 to 65 centimeters.
The quality of the step will be especially evident outdoors, where the concrete is exposed to frost, moisture and temperature changes. Poor-quality or incorrectly laid concrete cracks, peels off and loses its surface after several winters. The steps made by KLOCOK are made of frost-resistant concrete, which will withstand the Slovak climate for decades without cracking or crumbling.
Dimensions, shapes and finishes
We manufacture each riser exactly to measure according to the project documentation, adjusting the width, depth and height to your dimensions. We do not produce standard dimensions in stock, each piece is custom-made, which guarantees that the staircase will look exactly as the architect or customer designed it, without compromise.
The surface of the landing is critical from a safety point of view, a slippery surface on an outdoor staircase is dangerous especially in the rain or in frost. At KLOCOK we offer anti-slip surface treatments: treatment of the landing surface to make it anti-slip, a washed-out surface with exposed aggregate that naturally increases friction, or a special anti-slip preparation according to the project requirements.
