Concrete urn walls are the most common type of columbarium. A wall with niches, each niche designed to hold an urn and closed with a stone or concrete slab, can have different heights and lengths as needed.
Hexagonal columbaria with a hexagonal arrangement of niches are a modernist solution that is increasingly appearing in new cemetery areas. The hexagonal pattern is more visually interesting than a regular grid and also makes efficient use of space.
